Practice notes

Nils is a Partner in the Commercial practice group at Eversheds Sutherland in Munich. His practice focuses on data protection, Cyber Security and IT law and comprises both in contentious and non-contentious aspects. He also handles the data protection and IT aspects of all types of major corporate transactions.

His non-contentious work includes national and multi-jurisdictional data protection projects (product/services compliance, data transfers, big data), outsourcing projects, and drafting/advising on all kinds of contracts relating to the creation and exploitation of IT (including software development, software licensing, software distribution, collaboration agreements). His contentious practice includes data protection litigation with a focus on data subject access request proceedings, as well as procedures with the data protection authority, and IT litigation with a focus on unsuccessful IT implementation projects.

Nils joined the firm in 2011 and is a certified specialist for IT law.

• International clients on GDPR high strategic advice, in particular multi-jurisdictional projects for (up to 50 countries)
• US company on strategic multi-jurisdictional projects (typically 20 countries), e.g. on background checks, data retention, CCTV and day-to-day trusted advisor for data protection advice
• Several clients on IT digitalisation projects, such as big data, AI, autonomous driving, connected car
• US payment service provider on data subject access right litigation and enforcement cases
• US company on a worldwide data-breach project with reporting in 8 jurisdictions
• Several clients on secondment, including an IT consultant and business process outsourcing provider (AMS, DevOps projects)
