Practice notes
Kathryn is a principal associate in our Construction team carrying out both contentious and non-contentious work.
Kathryn is an expert in development finance transactions and regularly works with the Real Estate and Banking teams carrying out the construction due diligence; reporting on the procurement structure, relevant construction documentation, warranty packages and contributing drafting to go into the associated transaction documents.
She is also experienced in drafting, negotiating and advising large institutional investors, Government departments and large private companies on the commonly-used families of standard form construction and engineering contracts (including JCT, NEC and FIDIC).
On the contentious side Kathryn assists clients with early dispute management, strategy and negotiation, adjudications and conducting mediations. Kathryn also has experience of handling cases in the Technology and Construction Court (“TCC”).
Examples of Kathryn’s recent work includes: carrying out construction due diligence for developers, institutional investors and funders who are developing their property portfolios in the City of London and elsewhere in the United Kingdom; drafting contracts for the development of numerous sites for the world’s largest online retailer; acting for a large food producer in respect of multiple disputes at its new process plant which are being resolved through various forums including negotiation, mediation and litigation in the TCC; and advising an international bank on the resolution of disputes at its London headquarters.
Kathryn has also completed two long term secondments, the first with Lend Lease based at the Athletes’ Village for the London 2012 Games and the second with Transport for London in their disputes team. During her time at both, and subsequently, she has run and successfully defended adjudications on behalf of the client.
