Pilar Colomés Iess is Counsel in the Litigation and International Arbitration Department at Eversheds Sutherland. Pilar focuses her expertise on international law, international investment arbitration and international commercial arbitration.
Pilar advised on a variety of investment and commercial arbitrations subject to different arbitration rules and jurisdictions around the world. Her experience covers various industry sectors such as energy and the financial sector, among others. She has experience in local and arbitration relief proceedings.
Pilar has worked for three years in the international arbitration department of the firm Kirkland & Ellis LLP in New York, after having completed a Master's degree (LL.M.) at Columbia Law University in New York. Previously, Pilar worked at the Herbert Smith Freehills LLP law firm where she acted on behalf of the Kingdom of Spain in two major investment arbitrations arising as a result of claims filed by various investors under the Energy Charter Treaty and in relationship with the Spanish photovoltaic sector. In the past, Pilar also worked at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. Pilar is admitted to the Madrid and New York Bar Association. Pilar is admitted to practice in the Madrid and the New York BAR.
