Practice notes

Carlos is a Principal Associate and Solicitor Advocate in the International Litigation and Arbitration Group.

He is acting on complex, cross-border disputes, focusing on Latin America, Africa and Portuguese-speaking markets.

With over a decade of experience gained at both UK and US-headquartered international law firms, Carlos advises on various complex issues, including prominent disputes reported in the media, top 20 cases in The Lawyer, and multi-billion pound disputes.

Carlos helps companies like yours understand the risks and opportunities of commercial disputes, regularly advising in various sectors, including private equity, energy, consumer, real estate, manufacturing, transport, pharmaceutical, technology and sport.

His dispute experience includes advising on contractual and concessionary disputes; corporate disputes and shareholder governance issues; joint-venture and partnership disputes; judgment enforcement; jurisdictional disputes; insolvency; applications for urgent injunctive relief; IT and outsourcing disputes; employment disputes; and commercial fraud cases.

Whether gaining commercial leverage at the outset of a relationship or assisting in formal proceedings, Carlos will work with you to tailor a bespoke dispute management strategy based on your commercial objectives. While hard-fought litigation might, in some cases be the best or necessary approach, he will explore alternative dispute resolution options and adopt measures to avoid disputes materializing in the first place.

With an increased focus on technology to increase efficiency, reduce costs and provide a more streamlined service, Carlos also strongly believes in the use of using analytics to deliver data intelligence towards a more meaningful case strategy.

Carlos provides pro bono advice at the Mary Ward Legal Centre in Holborn, London.
