Bernd is a Partner in the Labour Law practice group at Eversheds Sutherland in Munich and has been working as a lawyer since 1999.

Primarily, Bernd provides advice on all matters related to works constitution and collective bargaining law. He legally and strategically advises companies and their responsible managers on the negotiation and structuring of all kinds of company and collective agreements, including, for example, company agreements on remuneration and working time systems, company collective agreements or collective agreements between a union and an employers' association.

Bernd advises companies throughout whole restructuring processes, on conciliation and arbitration boards, on transfers of business and with respect to entering into or the change in collective bargaining coverage. This also includes providing legal and strategic advice to companies and associations that are faced with industrial action.

In addition to matters of law, Bernd also advises companies on strategic, conceptual and communicative matters occurring related to the cooperation with the workforce, the different works council committees and trade unions.

Bernd represents companies and managers before German labour courts.

He is recommended for employment law by Best Lawyers.

Moreover, Bernd is regularly involved in in-house workshops for managers and management teams and holds lectures on labour law-related topics.

Bernd’s recent experience includes:

  • Advice and conduct of court proceedings for an employers' association and its member companies from the services sector with regard to defending strike actions because of a Germany-wide collective agreement between the union and the employers' association
  • Advice on the spin-off and transfer of business of a Germany-wide business unit for one of the leading German insurance companies
  • Regular legal advice and conduct of court proceedings as well as structuring and negotiation of a working time model for a leading company in the automotive supplier industry
  • Negotiations on a company collective agreement for a medium-sized family-owned company in the mechanical engineering industry in order to achieve a cost reduction
  • In-house labour law trainings for all management levels of a Germany-wide group operating in the automotive industry
