Ourmila is a practising barrister within the litigation team in Mauritius. She handles the preparation of cases from the drafting of pleadings to representations in Court and regularly advises clients in company law, commercial law, and intellectual property law.
Ourmila holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Mauritius and a Graduate Diploma in Law from BPP University, UK. She completed her Master of Laws in Legal Practice (Barristers) from BPP University, UK in 2019. Ourmila was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales in July 2019 and subsequently to the Mauritian Bar in January 2021. She is a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple (non-practising).
During her pupillage, she gained valuable experience both in litigation and advisory work in the following practice areas: civil, corporate and insolvency, family, criminal, corruption and money laundering offences and judicial review. Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, she undertook her training at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution and with leading Senior Counsels and Senior Attorney.
