David works as a Partner in the area of compliance and commercial criminal law in Eversheds Sutherland's Hamburg office.
As a certified lawyer for criminal law, David advises and represents national and international companies on all questions of commercial and tax criminal law. He focuses inter alia on the areas of corruption and breach of trust, fraud, insolvency, labor/employment and environmental criminal acts as well as social security, tax, customs and foreign trade offenses.
He represents companies before authorities and courts within the framework of criminal proceedings and proceedings for the imposition of administrative fines and vis-à-vis tax and customs investigators, the police, the public prosecutor's office and courts. David also regularly represents and defends managing directors and executives within the context of commercial and tax offense proceedings.
As additional core areas of his activities, he advises companies on compliance and fraud prevention, implements and supports internal investigations and represents companies which suffered damage due to criminal offenses in and out of court.
Before joining Eversheds Sutherland, David worked for ROXIN Rechtsanwälte LLP, which specializes in commercial and tax criminal law, in Dusseldorf and Hamburg from 2014 to 2019.
David’s recent experience includes representing:
- a leading gambling company in compliance matters under criminal law and representation of the company as an injured party
- the CEO of a US arms manufacturer within the framework of an allegation of violations against foreign trade law
- a food company within the framework of asset recovery due to an allegation of unauthorized advertising
- a cinema company as claimant in connection with the suspicion of comprehensive offenses committed by employees against the assets of the company
- a medium-sized company with regard to a CEO fraud, including representation in several jurisdictions
David is recognized and recommended by the German business magazine WirtschaftsWoche as one of the top lawyers for commercial criminal law in Germany.
David is a member of the commercial criminal law association (Wirtschaftsstrafrechtliche Vereinigung) and regularly publishes articles on criminal and commercial criminal law matters in criminal law journals.
David studied law at the Universities of Freiburg, Berlin and Florence (Italy). He also graduated with an LL.M. in international criminal law at New York’s Columbia University (USA) and at Universiteit van Amsterdam (Netherlands).
