Amanda is a Legal Director with over 15 years of experience of acting on high value and complex litigation, advising a range of financial institutions and large corporates.
A member of the Financial Services Disputes and Investigations team, Amanda advises a wide range of financial institutions and large corporates and can guide you through the litigation and dispute resolution process whether you are a potential Claimant or a Defendant facing a claim.
Amanda's experience includes advising in respect of civil fraud, contractual disputes, and tort claims (in particular professional negligence cases). She advises clients from the very start of potential disputes, to enable them to investigate and understand the claims they face, to seek to preserve essential documentary and witness evidence, and to ensure that a commercial approach is taken to maximize recovery and preserve assets. She can support and guide you all the way through the process whether your dispute is ultimately resolved through negotiation or alternative dispute resolution, or a final court hearing.
Having undertaken a six-month secondment to a major retail and commercial bank, she is able to understand the issues and demands faced by clients from their perspective.
Amanda is also part of our highly regarded Pensions Litigation team, and has experience of acting in relation to both Part 7 and Part 8 claims involving a pensions element.
Amanda has acted on a variety of matters, most recently including:
- acting in defence of a global bank in a long running and complex multiparty claim which has been listed by The Lawyer as one of the “Top 20 Cases of 2022” and is due to go to trial from April 2022 to November 2022. In this claim, the 330 high net worth investor claimants make allegations of unlawful means conspiracy and dishonest assistance against the bank seeking recovery of at least £200m in damages
- advising a multinational insurance company in defence of a multimillion-pound professional negligence claim arising out of pensions advice and drafting services allegedly provided by a firm which was subsequently acquired by our client
- representing a multinational cosmetics company on two related claims for professional negligence against former pensions law advisors to the company; also advising on a connected Part 8 administrative claim which seeks direction from the Court on how the company pension scheme is to be properly administered
- undertaking a six-month secondment with a major retail and commercial bank
Legal 500 for civil fraud states “she’s marvellous! Her capacity for hard work is truly remarkable, her ability to get on top of the smallest details in a substantial case in a short period of time are nothing short of miraculous, her drafting skills are first-rate, and she’s what every big case needs. No praise is too much for her.”
