Martin Sanftleben is a Senior Associate at Eversheds Sutherland in Munich and a member of the Corporate and M&A practice group.

His activity includes the provision of advice on M&A transactions, joint ventures and restructurings of international groups. Another focus of his activity is the provision of advice to management and supervisory board members on questions related to corporate governance and corporate compliance as well as in connection with the preparation and holding of general meetings of listed companies.

Martin studied law at the University of Bayreuth and at the same time completed an additional course in economics with a special focus on tax and finance. He currently writes his doctoral thesis on a comparison between German and English law with respect to a capital market law topic.

His recent experience includes advising:

  • AURELIUS Equity Opportunities on the acquisition of the Armstrong ceiling business from Knauf Group
  • Archer Daniels Midlands on the acquisition of Ziegler group, a leading European provider of natural citrus flavour ingredients
  • Autoliv regarding its newly established joint venture "Zenuity" with the Swedish car manufacturer Volvo Cars in the area of automated driving and driving assistance systems
  • Horizon Global on the acquisition of Westfalia and Terwa Group from DPE Deutsche Private Equity with a volume of EUR 167 million
  • an aerospace and defence manufacturer on its USD 3.5 billion holding company reorganization, a global reorganization which required coordination of work in eleven different jurisdictions
  • Harmonic Drive AG on the transformation into a European public limited company (SE)
  • a listed company with respect to the preparation and holding of the virtual ordinary general meeting as well as regarding capital market law-related matters (share buy-back programme)
