Martin Sanftleben is a Senior Associate at Eversheds Sutherland in Munich and member of the Corporate and M&A practice group.

He mainly advises on M&A transactions, joint ventures and reorganisations of international groups. Moreover, he advises on national and international stock corporation law and group law matters as well as on questions in the area of corporate governance.

Martin studied law at the University of Bayreuth and at the same time completed an additional course in economics with a special focus on tax and finance. During his legal traineeship, he already worked for Eversheds Sutherland in Germany and for the Eversheds Sutherland office in London. He currently writes his doctoral thesis on a comparison between German and English law with respect to a capital market law topic.

Martin's recent experience includes advising:

  • Archer Daniels Midlands on the acquisition of Ziegler group, a leading European provider of natural citrus flavor ingredients
  • Carlyle’s portfolio companies Praesidiad and Hesco on the acquisition of defense container manufacturer Drehtainer in Germany
  • India’s IT consultancy giant LTI on the acquisition of the leading German banking IT consultancy company Nielsen+Partner with offices in 7 jurisdictions for EUR 28m
  • Autoliv regarding its newly established joint venture "Zenuity" with the Swedish car manufacturer Volvo Cars in the area of automated driving and driving assistance systems
  • Horizon Global on the acquisition of Westfalia and Terwa Group from DPE Deutsche Private Equity with a volume of EUR 167 m
  • An aerospace and defence manufacturer on its USD 3.5 bn holding company reorganization, a global reorganization including coordination of work in eleven different jurisdictions
  • An European stock corporation on an ongoing basis regarding corporate matters
