Practice notes

Manuel is a certified specialist in labour and employment law and a Counsel in the Employment and Labour Law practice group at Eversheds Sutherland in Munich.

His area of advice covers all aspects of employment and labour law including social insurance law. In this context, Manuel represents his clients both out of court and in litigious matters in court. Over the years, Manuel has developed specific expertise regarding the use of external staff, processes of separation from executives and members of executive bodies as well as restructuring projects.

Manuel is the author of various articles in specialist magazines and has published books on employment and labour law as well as commercial law topics. Currently, for instance, he is a co-author of the practical handbook Haufe Personal Office Premium.

Manuel studied law and European economic law at the Universities of Würzburg (Germany) and Bergen (Norway). Initially, he worked as a research associate for the Foundation for Environmental Energy Law and wrote his doctoral thesis on a co-determination rights topic. Subsequently, he completed his legal traineeship in Würzburg and Beijing (China). Manuel is a qualified business mediator (MuCDR) and is a volunteer member of an association's arbitral tribunal. Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, he worked in the employment and labour law practice group of Beiten Burkhardt for several years.

Manuel's recent experience includes:

  • advising a global leader in the automotive industry on various external staff projects, in particular also during the introduction of agile working
  • advising a nationwide personnel service provider during a change of business model following the reform of the German Personnel Leasing Act (Arbeitnehmerüberlassungsgesetz)
  • implementation of a restructuring measure including staff reductions at a nationwide specialist publishing house
  • design of a separation process of an executive/managing director at a company in the metal and electrical industry
