Ben is a Senior Associate in our Litigation and Dispute Management group.

Ben handles a broad range of commercial disputes at both Sheriff Court and Court of Session level in Scotland. His main areas of practice include real estate litigation (acting for tenants, landlords and insurers), commercial contractual litigation, contentious construction, financial services disputes and defending personal injury/fatal accident compensation claims. He has had notable experience in telecoms and dilapidations disputes, since qualifying as a solicitor in 2016.

Ben works across a wide range of sectors (including real estate, financial services, retail & consumer, energy & natural resources, TMT and transport) for the firm's local, international and global clients. He has experience working on significant cross-border disputes across the UK and Europe.

Ben has been involved in providing pro bono legal advice since studying law and continues to do so, recently advising a global charity in relation to a property dispute and supervising students at Edinburgh University's Free Legal Advice Clinic.

Outside of work Ben loves sport and keeping active. He plays Rugby Union at a competitive level for his local club Cartha Queens Park in Glasgow, where Ben currently sits on the committee as the club's membership secretary.

Ben’s recent experience includes:

  • acting for an institutional landlord in multimillion-pound contentious construction disputes in the Court of Session
  • advising a global telecommunications client on a large termination project, involving exiting a portfolio of leases/licenses throughout the UK
  • coordinating urgent multijurisdictional advice relating to protests across Europe
  • acting for employers and insurers in relation to high-value personal injury/fatal accident compensation claims
  • assisting to resolve a multimillion-pound commercial contract dispute at mediation relating to a portfolio of photovoltaics systems across North East Scotland
  • acting for landlords in relation to removing electronic communications equipment
  • advising on dilapidations, rent review and service charge disputes
  • advising on debt recovery for commercial clients
  • advising international and global financial institutions in relation to their Scottish interests
  • advising on insolvency litigation
  • advising on urgent removal of unlawful occupiers

  • Most recently, presented on the key differences when dealing with disputes in Scotland to clients and colleagues based/practicing in England and Wales, across three practice areas: Commercial, Real Estate, Construction
