Practice notes

Heidi is Eversheds Sutherland International's Director of Governance and Compliance, with responsibility for the firm's legal and regulatory compliance across its International practice.

Heidi works closely with Debbie Jukes, the firm's GC and Chief Governance Officer, advising the firm at a strategic level on various risk and compliance issues. This involves considering legal and regulatory changes that will impact the firm and developing and implementing compliance programmes to address them e.g. GDPR, Criminal Finance Act, DAC6. It also involves assisting the firm with its intended growth plans to open new offices in other jurisdictions and working with the wider business to support the delivery of the firm's objectives.

Heidi manages the in-house counsel team responsible for the firm's Data Protection Office dealing with data breaches, cyber incidents, data subject right requests, privacy impact assessments, data audits and questionnaires, data protection queries, correspondence with the ICO and information governance more widely. Heidi also manages the in-house counsel team responsible for the firm's regulatory compliance dealing with quality management, conduct complaints, whistleblowing, Modern Slavery, FCA regulation, SRA regulation, professional ethics and integrity. Heidi also oversees the firm's mandatory induction and annual Risk training programmes.

Heidi enjoys the challenges faced by change. She is business-oriented, with an ability to understand the varied issues facing the numerous teams and offices across the firm, and provide risk based solutions to difficulties faced.
