Simon is a partner within the Clean Energy team in our London office.
He advises developers, utilities and financiers on all commercial matters relating to global energy projects, including structured transactions in traded energy wholesale markets. Within the last year, Simon has put in place PPAs/route-to-market trading contracts in respect of renewable generation assets totaling in excess of 1GW.
Simon’s recent experience includes:
- leading the negotiation and drafting of a bespoke “route to market” forward power hedging agreement between two of Europe’s largest energy utilities in respect of a large portfolio of UK renewable generation assets (in excess of 800MW), including onshore and offshore wind farms
- advising the RWE group on a wide range of contractual issues in relation to its global portfolio of Master Trading Agreements (including ISDA, EFET, GTMA) in respect of energy commodities, including physical and financial power
- recently concluded bespoke forward trading agreement on behalf of a large utility in respect of a portfolio of UK “embedded” (that is, connected to low-voltage network) renewable generation assets (approx. 650MW), including arrangements relating to meter registrations and pass-through of “embedded benefits” in respect of onshore and offshore wind and hydro plants
- recently concluded bespoke agreement covering all forward power hedging and imbalance activities for a 55MW biomass plant in the UK
