Practice notes

Glynne is a partner and read law at Jesus College, Oxford. He heads Eversheds Sutherland's Corporate and International Education practice.

Higher Education

He advised on the merger to create the University of Manchester; incorporations of the Universities of Cumbria, Roehampton, University of South Wales, and led on the first tripartite university merger to form the University of Wales Trinity St David

He advised on the setting up of the QAA and OIA. He acts for the Russell Group for which Eversheds Sutherland is company secretary.

He advised Apollo Global on its takeover of BPP. He advised the University of Law on the structure which permitted its sale and recently acted for GUS in buying it from Montagu.

He acted for Hult in their recent strategic alliance with Ashridge Business School.

He recently acted on the setting up of both The Alan Turing Institute and The Crick Institute.

International

He had advised on many campuses including Newcastle University medical one in Malaysia theirs in Singapore, City University in Dubai and UCL in Australia and Abu Dhabi.

He acts for many private education companies including PE firms.

He was asked by David Willetts, then Universities Secretary, to provide non-political input into the most recent White Paper on HE reform.

He has written governance papers for the UUK, 157 Group and for The Leadership Foundation.

Further Education

He has advised a number of FE colleges in sponsoring academies.

He has advised on many FE mergers (including the demerger of K College) and federations (including Kingston/Carshalton and Warwickshire/South Leicestershire)

He is recognised as a leading lawyer in the UK legal directories "Legal 500" and "Chambers".
