Practice notes
Julia is a criminal regulatory defence lawyer. She joined the EHS team at Eversheds Sutherland in October 2022 and will be providing support to clients on contentious and non-contentious matters.
Julia has vast experience acting for clients in criminal regulatory matters in particular health and safety matters.
Julia completed her training contract with the Government Legal Service specialising in health and safety. She was a lawyer in the Health and Safety Executive’s Litigation and Enforcement Legal Team prior to embarking on a career in private practice.
After entering private practice she continued to prosecute on behalf of the Health and Safety Executive and Local Authorities and defend companies and individuals charged with manslaughter, and health and safety cases as well as defending clients in criminal matters related to fraud, offences under the Directors Disqualification Act and other serious criminal offences.
Before joining Eversheds Sutherland she was the Joint Head of Legal at a health and safety consultancy, where she undertook a range of contentious and non-contentious work for clients in the construction, leisure and property sectors as well as devising training for clients
Julia is a member of the Health and Safety Lawyers Association and Women in Health and Safety Network.
She has spoken at the SHP Health and Safety Expo as well as delivered careers talks at various educational establishments and chairing panels at the Law Society Annual Careers fair.
Julia has had conduct of many high profile cases during the course of her career including the fatal incident in Hanover Square and the prosecution of Priory Healthcare Limited following the death of a teenage girl at one of its hospitals.
