Dr. Julia Traumann is a Senior Associate in the IP & Commercial practice group at Eversheds Sutherland in Munich. In her activities as a lawyer specialised in the law of intellectual property she advises and represents national and international clients in all areas of intellectual property. In this context, she focusses on the following areas:

  • trademark, design and copyright law,
  • unfair competition law,
  • drafting and negotiating of intellectual property agreements and
  • business secrets and know how.

Her clients, in particular, include manufacturers of consumer and luxury goods, media companies, financial service providers, advertising agencies and technology companies.

Julia is the author of numerous articles in her area of expertise.

She is a member of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (Deutsche Vereinigung für gewerblichen Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht, GRUR) and the Licensing Executives Society (LES).

Julia studied law at the Universities of Freiburg and Münster with a scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes) and completed her PhD on a trademark law topic at Cologne University.

Before joining Eversheds Sutherland, Julia has worked in the IP practice group of a renowned international law firm in Munich for five years and also temporarily in London. Furthermore, she was a substitute external Legal Counsel of a company in the life sciences sector.

Julia's recent experience includes:

  • Advising and representing a manufacturer of compostable coffee capsules in several disputes under competition law regarding green claims.
  • Advising and representing a Spanish fashion business in court in a dispute regarding the labelling of a trousers model
  • Ongoing advice and representation of a large German men's fashion business in all matters under trade mark law
