Daniel is a partner at Eversheds Sutherland in Düsseldorf and heads the German Competition, Trade and Foreign Investment practice group.
He advises clients on all areas of competition law, in particular on German, European and international merger control, on cartel investigations and follow-on damage claims. In addition, he focusses on FDI/investment control proceedings and European state aid law. Daniel has special experience in the automotive, banking/insurance, energy/renewable energy, telecommunications as well as health & life sciences industries.
Daniel’s recent experience includes advising and representing:
- RWE Renewables on offshore windpark joint venture with Northland Power
- Burger King International on acquisition of Burger Kind Deutschland by McWin-Group
- CyrusOne on acquisition by KKR and Global Infrastructure Partners
- Bregal on merger control and competition law aspects in numerous transactions (most recently acquisition of Laird Group; divestment of ATP-Group; exit of Novem Group).
- Various clients on follow-on damage actions
- Various clients on cartel proceedings (including assistance during dawn raids, preparation of leniency applications)
- Non-European clients during German and international investment control proceedings
Daniel is recognized by Wirtschaftswoche and Handelsblatt/Best Lawyers and as a highly recommended lawyer for competition law.
Daniel is the author of numerous articles on merger control/competition law, FDI/investment control and European State aid law. He is a member of the German competition lawyers’ association (Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht).
