Grant is a partner in our TMT and commercial department in Johannesburg. He specialises in commercial law with an emphasis on media, telecommunications and IT. Eversheds Sutherland is known for its commercial awareness and industry knowledge and for providing innovative and tailored solutions for every client. Grant’s recent experience includes :
- Advising on establishment, management and winding up of companies in South Africa, Middle East and Rest of Africa
- Advising clients on leasing agreements for telecoms towers and masts, with both the landlords and the telco providers
- Advising clients on agreements for the deployment and leasing of fibre infrastructure
- Advising on and negotiating various construction and construction-related contracts, FIDIC, NEC3, JBCC
- Negotiating the sale and purchase of properties in Cape Town for a US-listed global client
- Negotiating various outsourcing agreements, mostly acting for the service provider, for example:
- Assisting a global information technology company in master outsourcing agreements with a Pan-African investment, savings, insurance and banking group.
- Advising a global information technology company with reviewing and negotiation on the outsource of tenders and agreements with Eskom
- Advising a global logistics company in outsourcing services agreement for bar-packing, warehousing and logistics services for South African Airways
- Advising on and negotiating various lease agreements and property purchases for listed American company
- Advising on software development (Agile) agreements for a Mauritius-based financial institution.
- Negotiating various vendor, partner, reseller and software licensing agreements with ICT providers such as Cisco, Symantec, NetApp and Microsoft
- Procurement and compliance advice, including appeals against tenders, particularly in state owned and public entities
