Gunnar Witte is a Senior Associate in the Litigation & Dispute Management group of Eversheds Sutherland's Munich office.

In this capacity, he advises German and international clients in and out of court disputes, primarily in the areas of commercial and corporate law as well as general contract law.

In addition to in state court proceedings, Gunnar specializes in national and international arbitration proceedings (ad-hoc, DIS, ICC) as well as the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards and judgements in Germany. Thanks to his many years of experience, he also has great expertise in the field of contract drafting and contract management, strictly oriented by the client’s best interest.

Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Gunnar worked for international law firms in Singapore, Tokyo, and Bangkok. He studied law at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich and the University of Gothenburg followed by a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Commercial Arbitration Law at the University of Stockholm in 2011/2012.

Gunnar is a member of the LCIA Young International Arbitration Group, the German Initiative of Young Arbitrators and the ICC Young Arbitrators Forum.

Gunnar is recommended for Arbitration and Mediation by Best Lawyers/Handelsblatt in the young talent category "Ones to Watch".

Gunnar’s recent experience includes:

  • Representing a German plant constructor in ICC arbitration proceedings in connection with the defence of claims for damages of a Danish competitor
  • Advising the managing partners of an international software company in proceedings before the High Court in Kuala Lumpur and in ICC arbitration proceedings in Singapore in relation to the defence against claims for damages by former Malaysian business partners
  • Representing several foreign clients in the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in Germany
  • Representing a Slovenian medical device manufacturer in the enforcement of claims for damages for industrial espionage against a Danish competitor before the Regional Court and Higher Regional Court of Munich
  • Drafting of a corporate arbitration clause for a German medium-sized company
  • Advising the German subsidiary of a US-American software company on corporate matters and revision of its General Terms and Conditions of Business
