Salam is a partner based in Baghdad. Salam heads the litigation and dispute management team in Iraq. He handles a broad range of commercial disputes and contractual claims as well as specialising in complex litigation, constant business counselling and corporate and regulatory compliance work. He has advised local, national, and international clients on all aspects of operating business and start-ups in Iraq.

His recent experience includes

  • Representation of the National Bank of Iraq in various litigation matters.
  • Advising global oil company on contract enforcement in Iraq.
  • Represented a global logistics provider in a claim brought by a government entity.
  • Acting on behalf of Iraq Middle Market Development Foundation (IMMDF) in relation to their loan disbursements to SME companies in Iraq (including Kurdistan), including review of loan documentation and drafting a Pledge Agreements and assisted in having pledge agreements duly perfected with competent departments, as well as litigation in local courts.
  • Acting for a global power generating company in a complex litigation case in Iraq courts
  • Advising ENI on employment matters in Iraq.

Salam is ranked as a leading attorney in Chambers & Partners 2015. Salam was educated at Al-Turath University in Iraq. He is qualified from the Iraq Bar association, and fluent in both Arabic and English. Prior to joining Eversheds, he worked as an In house Lawyer for an international construction company advising on all aspects of construction law before Eversheds in 2010.
