Practice notes

Krista is mainly specialized in litigation and dispute resolution, international arbitration, as well as insolvency and asset restructuring. She has gained considerable experience in preparing legal documents in various commercial disputes. Recent experience covers cross-border recovery, challenging of contracts, disputes with insolvency aspects, financial disputes, recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards, as well as various issues of applicable law, jurisdiction and enforcement.
 
Krista was also advising together with sworn attorneys at law on complex domestic and international commercial transactions, as well as banking and finance issues related to FinTech area and AML procedures.
 
Before joining Eversheds Sutherland Bitāns, Krista has worked at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Latvia, where she, as a lawyer, was responsible for developing legal projects, preparing drafts of legal opinions, and lead working groups.
 
Krista has gained significant experience working at Eversheds London office, she has also won local moot court competitions of civil and constitutional law, and represented the University of Latvia at the prestigious Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court competition.
 
Since 2016, Krista is a member of the Latvian Bar Association being Assistant Attorney at Law to Attorney at Law Agris Bitāns. Krista is also a Ph.D. candidate currently studying in Latvian University, Faculty of Law.
