Liam is Head of our Company Secretarial unit.
He has significant experience in the areas of company secretarial, compliance, corporate governance, anti-money laundering, and advising directors on their statutory duties and obligations.
Liam provides assistance to organizations — both local and international — on their statutory obligations under Irish company legislation and regulations in the areas of compliance, governance, restructuring, wind-downs and dissolutions, as well as guidance in changes in share structures, board changes and beneficial ownership regulations. He provides support to boards of directors of regulated and nonregulated entities, public and private companies, and government agencies on corporate governance best practice relating to corporate governance codes. Liam administers board and shareholder meetings. He also assists with formal and informal reviews of board and chairperson effectiveness, skills matrices and board composition, and contributes to anti-money laundering training for boards of regulated investment funds.
In recent years, he has advised a number of high-profile international clients on establishing operations in Ireland and navigating the Irish legal and regulatory landscape with regard to setting up an Irish entity, particularly in the first few years of their existence.
Liam recognizes that company secretarial solutions are not one size fits all and works with clients to ensure they are provided with the best possible services that are fit for purpose for both now and into the future. Clients with whom he engages will be provided with comprehensive consultation and quick and efficient solutions to any issues or complications as they may arise.
Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Liam worked as manager in the company secretarial department of a large corporate firm in Dublin, as well as in a global corporate services provider and a Big Four audit firm.
