Practice notes

Henry is an associate in our Financial Institutions group. He has experience in a broad range of financial services and products, with a particular focus on life insurance, derivatives and risk transfer structures.

Henry acts for life insurers on a variety of insurance and reinsurance structures including bulk annuities, longevity products, financial collateral structures and unit-linked policies. He also advises on a range of regulatory and company law with a particular focus on Solvency II.

Henry has advised a number of asset managers and other corporates in connection with derivatives and other traded products (including the negotiation of ISDA Master Agreements and other netting agreements). Henry also acts for pension schemes and institutional investors on their investment arrangements with a particular focus on private equity funds.

His recent experience includes:

  • advising Legal & General on the £2.4 bn buy-out of the Nortel Networks UK Pension Scheme;
  • acting for Legal & General on the £800m longevity insurance with the Scottish Hydro-Electric Pension Scheme. The first transaction to use Legal & General's UK-based pass through structure to transfer longevity risk to the end reinsurer; advising a UK pension scheme on a number of investments in private equity and debt alternative investment funds;
  • acting for a range of corporates in the implementation of ISDA master agreements.
