Laura is a Principal Associate and Barrister qualified in both England and Wales (Middle Temple) and Northern Ireland with Laura specialises in advising corporate and individual clients in relation to all aspects of criminal law, but with a particular focus on fraud, bribery and corruption.

Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Laura spent six years as a senior prosecutor and case controller at the UK’s Serious Fraud Office (SFO), leading numerous complex financial crime investigations of corporates and individuals which included planning and conducting dawn raids, suspect and witness interviews, dealing with other domestic and overseas law enforcement agencies and negotiating pleas agreements.

Laura’s recent experience includes:

  • Advising and representing a global infrastructure company subject to an investigation by the Serious Fraud Office into corruption in a number of regions;
  • Advising and conducting an investigation for a global consumer goods conglomerate into allegations of corruption in South East Asia;
  • Advising and conducting an investigation for an international media company into allegations of corruption and fraud;
  • Advising and conducting an investigation for a global extractive company into allegations of fraud; and
  • Advising and representing individuals compelled to assist high profile SFO investigations.

Laura also regularly advises clients in regard to Anti-bribery and corruption compliance programmes and delivers training on Bribery, investigations, Dawn Raids and witness familiarisation for criminal court proceedings.

Laura was recently selected as one of the 100 remarkable women in investigations globally by Global Investigations Review’s Women in Investigations 2018.
