Maximilian is a Partner in the Corporate/M&A practice group in our Dusseldorf office.

For more than a decade, he has advised clients on highly complex and innovative transactions, focussing mainly on the fields of real estate, energy and the processing industry. His clients include private and institutional investors, family offices and industrial companies.

He supports his clients on a national and international level in particular with respect to share deals and asset deals, both on the purchasers' as well as on the sellers' sides, as well as with respect to joint ventures and club deals. In addition to his expertise in the fields of M&A transactions, he has comprehensive experience in corporate and capital market law and advises clients on questions of corporate compliance.

Maximilian regularly publishes on current corporate law and M&A issues. In the Betriebs-Berater magazine (BB) 2018, p. 585 et seqq. he recently dealt with the topic "Majority requirements and duties of loyalty in closed-end funds if the fund assets are to be sold".

He is a member of the German Business and Corporate Law Association (VGR e.V.), the Association for Banking Law (Bankenrechtliche Vereinigung) and the IBA (International Bar Association).

Maximilian is recommended as a lawyer for mergers & acquisitions by kanzleimonitor.de 2017/2018.

He studied law at the Universities of Freiburg i.Br., Berlin (HU), Aberdeen, Rostock and Speyer. As part of his doctoral thesis, he completed a research project at New York University.

In 2006, he started his career as a lawyer at Hengeler Mueller in Frankfurt. From mid-2009 until mid-2016, he worked for Hogan Lovells. Before joining Eversheds Sutherland, he worked as a Partner in the Corporate/M&A practice group at MKRG in Dusseldorf since mid-2016.

Maximilian's recent experience includes:

  • Advising a subsidiary of a German major bank on a real estate share deal transaction in Luxembourg
  • Advising a subsidiary of a German major bank on the acquisition of a hotel property in Cologne
  • Advising Montanhydraulik GmbH on the acquisition of subsidiaries in the USA and Canada
  • Advising a real estate investor on joint ventures for the acquisition of office properties in Frankfurt and Dusseldorf
  • Advising an entrepreneur on the sale of his business to a private equity investor
