Marcelllo is Executive Partner and Co-head of the Employment  and Pension department of Eversheds Sutherland in Italy. 

With more than 30 years of seniority as a lawyer, Marcello has acquired specific and extensive experience both in the handling of litigation in employment law cases and in advising on non-contentious matters. This includes inter alia rendering legal opinions, dealing with mass dismissal procedures with negotiations with trade unions, negotiations aimed at mutual termination of employment contracts, drafting of subordinate employment contracts, as well as agency agreements.

Marcello has considerable expertise in every area of employment law. Marcello regularly represent clients in employment law proceedings before district courts, courts of Appeal and the Supreme Court and, when necessary, in urgent relief procedures. He also has a thorough understanding of how companies work, having worked for a number of years as corporate counsel for prominent Italian and multinational companies.

Marcello drafted the Italian section of Employment Law in Italy, Bloomsbury Professional and frequently publishes articles concerning employment law developments and case law interpretation on the national newspaper Sole 24 Ore and on the web portal having the same name. He is a lecturer in Human Resources Master’s course organized by Sole 24 Ore and in Master courses organized by Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi.

In 2021 Marcello Floris was awarded by AIDP (Associazione Italiana Direzione Personale - Italian association of HR directors, https://www.aidp.it/ ) as “Lawyer of the year Litigation” at the Legalcommunity Labour Awards. The jury’s motivation was: “Over 30 years of experience in Employment Law. He has pleaded cases in almost every Italian Court; he writes on the “Norme e Tributi” page of the Sole 24 Ore, on HR online, on Direzione del Personale, and he holds seminars for AIDP. This year in particular he dealt with very difficult matters, in which the companies, due to the outbreak, had serious difficulties to provide support and still managed to obtain favourable results for the clients.”

In 2023 Marcello was awarded as  "Lawyer of the year social security" at the  Legalcommunity Labour Awards 2023.
