Ed Freeman is a principal associate in our construction and group with a particular emphasis on drafting and negotiating construction and engineering contracts, and the related elements of property documents.

Edward has advised on, drafted and negotiated a large number of construction and engineering contracts and associated documentation in, amongst others, the retail, logistics, residential and commercial development sectors. He has also advised on power and infrastructure contracts. This has involved working with the major contract forms including JCT, MF/1, FIDIC and NEC. Ed also has significant experience in negotiating consultant appointments.

His recent experience includes:

  • Advising a multinational financial services and asset management company in relation to the construction aspects of its later living portfolio, including acquisitions, joint ventures, financing, building contracts and ongoing project issues
  • Advising on the construction aspects of several real estate transactions in the retail/online sector, including automated distribution centres
  • Advising developers in relation to town-centre redevelopment projects, including public sector, leisure, and residential elements

Edward has an MSc in Construction Law & Arbitration from King's College, London.
