Practice notes

Robert is a Legal Director in our human resources practice. He qualified in 2003 and has been a member of Eversheds Sutherland’s education sector group since joining the firm in 2006. Since then he has worked almost exclusively with clients in the higher and further education sectors.

Robert undertakes a full range of contentious and non-contentious employment work. His work areas include: redundancy/restructuring, collective and trade union issues, senior postholder terminations, complex internal disciplinary and grievance proceedings, discrimination and equality issues (including the public sector equality duty), employment-related DPA/FOIA issues, ‘atypical’ working models (including sessional/term-time, zero hours and fixed-term contracts) and whistleblowing issues. He also provides advice on governance and constitutional issues for education sector employers.

Robert is an experienced advocate, and is also an experienced negotiator and has been involved in a number of complex mediations. Robert plays a key role in the preparation and delivery of Eversheds Sutherland’s national education training programme, as well as regularly delivering training and thought leadership events for education clients and sector bodies, including UCEA, AoC and the Sixth Form Colleges’ Association.
