Practice notes

Raimonds is an attorney at law and a certified insolvency administrator, also Associate Partner in Eversheds Sutherland Bitāns.  He is also a member of the Litigation group and a court attorney actively representing clients’ interests in commercial disputes on all court levels in Latvia.

Being a leading insolvency expert, Raimonds is authorised to perform administrator duties in restructuring proceedings of legal entities.  He acts as an insolvency administrator in bankruptcy proceedings of legal entities and private individuals on a regular basis.

Raimonds deals mostly with contentious insolvency and litigation cases.  He is particularly well-known for his professionalism and dedication in representing clients.

He also regularly works with other offices in various foreign jurisdictions in relation to insolvency proceedings or litigation.

Prior to joining Eversheds Bitāns, Raimonds served as chief legal officer for a multimillion investment holding company.

Raimonds is a member of the Latvian Bar Association and a certified insolvency administrator.  He also acts as an advisor to the Foreign Investors’ Council in Latvia (FICIL) and its Court System Efficiency work group.

Recent experience

Advising an international client in connection with a multimillion claim against insolvent Liepajas Metalurgs, the largest metallurgy company in the Baltic region;

Advising Rolls-Royce, a UK-based luxury automobile company, in connection with its creditors’ standing and protection from losses in respect of its cooperating supplier under legal restructuring proceedings;

Advising and acting for Zolfo Cooper in the insolvency administration of Snoras Bank, a pan-Baltic credit institution;

Representing Latvijas Kugnieciba, the biggest shipping company in the Baltic region, in litigation on various court levels;

Representing Tele2, one of the leading international telecommunications operators, in corporate recoveries;

Advising and representing Reverta, a leading problematic asset management company with an approximate portfolio value of €1 billion, in corporate recoveries and contentious insolvencies;

Advising Lindorff, one of the leading European providers of debt-related administrative services with traditions going back over 100 years, in corporate recoveries;

Advising a leading Latvian credit institution in connection with multimillion fraud and contentious insolvency/legal restructuring proceedings.
