Claire is a Senior Associate in our Dispute Resolution & Litigation Group.

She has over 10 years’ experience in commercial litigation with special focus and expertise being in debt recovery and enforcement of security.

Claire manages Eversheds Sutherland’s volume residential mortgage enforcement team and works closely with several lending institutions and loan service providers and advises on the enforcement and recovery of debt and assets. She currently manages over 3000 litigation files across all Court jurisdictions. Claire has advised on all elements of enforcement including bankruptcy, well charging orders, garnishee orders and appointment of receivers and on the related regulatory requirements. She also has experience in advising lenders regarding their regulatory obligations and compliance in respect of various codes issued by the Central Bank.

She speaks at seminars and client workshops on debt recovery and enforcement of security and she regularly prepares client updates on topical issues and recent judgments in the area of debt recovery and enforcement of security.

Claire's recent experience involves:

  • Managing a high-volume litigation caseload of over 2000 files on behalf of a leading provider of Retail and SME banking in the Irish Market across all Court Jurisdictions. 
  • Reviewing all Defences received and advising on the validity and legitimacy of the complex issues raised in contested cases. Claire drafts any required replying affidavits and Court applications for both the Circuit Court and High Court.
  • Supervising, monitoring, and auditing the performance of a nationwide network of agent solicitors, counsel and third party suppliers.
  • Directly managing a large team of staff in Dublin and co-ordinating with a team in Eversheds Sutherland LLP (Cardiff). This team structure is unique as it combines the expertise of our award winning Dublin litigation and restructuring team with our volume litigation centre of excellence in Cardiff to ensure that a market leading service is delivered to our clients.
  • Managing a volume litigation caseload on behalf ofa market leading consumer finance business across all Court Jurisdictions. Claire is also currently representing and advising in respect of a very high profile High Court Judicial Review case involving complex European law issues. These proceedings could have potentially widespread and significant implications for all institutional lenders within the State. The case has attracted Media attention and has been the subject of recent publications.
