Practice notes

Charlotte is an Associate in the Litigation group, specialising in contentious construction and engineering matters.

Charlotte advises on all aspects of construction litigation including the resolution of and pre-emptive avoidance of large-scale infrastructure, energy and general construction/engineering disputes. She has experience of adjudication, international arbitration, mediation, litigation and settlement negotiation.

Charlotte acts on behalf of employers, developers, professionals, funders, contractors and subcontractors across a wide range of projects. She advises clients across a large spectrum of sectors including energy, infrastructure, transport and education as well as representing local and national public sector clients.

Charlotte undertakes work with both standard form construction contracts (including JCT, NEC3, FIDIC and ICC) as well as bespoke contracts. She is frequently involved in matters regarding issues of fact and complex contract interpretation.

Examples of recent experiences include negotiating a favourable settlement following a four-party mediation regarding a public highway; contract termination following contractor insolvency; preparation of pleadings for international arbitration, including witness and expert evidence.
