Hugo is a corporate partner specialising in financial services. Hugo specialises in transactions (M&A, Part VIIs, distribution arrangements and risk transfer transactions) in the insurance market as well as the wider financial institutions sector.

Hugo also advises on the full range of regulatory and company law relevant to (re)insurers.

Recent experience includes:

  • Acting for Scottish Widows on the transfer of £10bn of longevity risk from three Lloyds Banking Group pension schemes via Scottish Widows to Pacific Life
  • Acting for Legal & General on the £4.6bn+ pension buy-out of the Rolls Royce Pension Scheme.
  • Acting for Markel on the acquisition of specialty lines insurer, ECIC and the subsequent Part VII
  • Acting for Markel on the acquisition of Caunce O’Hara Freelancer and Contractor Insurance Businesses
