Aonghus is a Senior Associate practicing in the Dispute Resolution & Litigation department.
He has extensive experience in commercial litigation and specifically in shareholder/contractual disputes, landlord and tenant disputes, and Public Procurement Judicial Review proceedings.
Over the last year, Aonghus have acted, and continue to act, for various companies involved in Commercial Court Litigation related to some of the country's largest property-related disputes.
Aonghus was seconded to Eversheds London to assist in a large LIBOR investigation involving a leading UK financial institution.
As part of Aonghus' experience, he has advised on various insolvency-related matters, including acting for receivers where borrowers have challenged the validity of their appointment and the powers that stem from those appointments. He has also acted for financial institutions in appointing receivers and providing advices around those appointment. Aonghus has acted for numerous companies in MVL/CVL procedures. He regularly acts for clients in relation to debt collection and enforcement matters.
Aonghus's recent experienxce includes:
- Acting in a well-publicised dispute as to the ownership of a commercial premises in Phibsboro, Dublin involving an alleged fraudulent first registration in the PRA.
- Acting for a shareholder in the Blackrock Hospital in relation to a long-running, well publicised, shareholder dispute.
- Acting for a Dublin based entrepreneur in relation to quasi-equity loan arrangements entered into and which are now the subject of Court proceedings.
- Acts for contracting authorities and private tenderers alike in all aspects of public procurement litigation. Aonghus obtained a recent favourable judgment for Word Perfect translations in the Supreme Court. Aonghus is also acting for a leading payments solution provider in relation to a procurement dispute wherein the contractual value is c.€100,000,000.
- Acted for a well known hotel operator in a number of disputes in the Citywest area and recently in relation to a dispute with an individual threatening to interfere with the implementation, and operation, of the Covid-19 treatment facilities at Citywest. Aonghus obtained injunctive relief in one of the first injunctive applications made following the introduction of Covid restrictions by the Court service.
