Gerhard is a partner in Eversheds Sutherland's Munich office and heads the Real Estate practice group in Germany.

Gerhard and his team advise on all legal issues that might arise in the lifecycle of a real estate, i.e. with respect to the structuring and implementation of the real estate's acquisition, its financing, development and management as well as its exploitation. To meet the requirements of real estate law, his team consists of lawyers with extensive experience in real estate, tenancy, private and public construction law as well as of specialists regarding banking and finance, corporate and tax law. For the organisation of his client matters, Gerhard can draw on his many years of experience in advising with respect to major construction projects and as a litigation lawyer in real estate law.

Some of the largest German real estate portfolios held by insurances, leading international tech and industrial companies as well as construction and real estate companies are among Gerhard's clients.

Gerhard is a member of the International Law Association as well as the Construction, Tenancy and Real Estate working groups of the German Lawyers’ Association (DAV). In 2005, he completed his Ph.D . in international law (Dr. jur.). Since 2008, he is furthermore a certified specialist in construction and architects law and since 2011 in tenancy and residential property law

Legal 500 Germany recommends Gerhard as a lawyer for real estate law. Moreover, Gerhard regularly comments on current trends in the real estate sector, inter alia in the German trade journal Handelsblatt, the legal online database Beck'scher Onlinegroßkommentar and in various specialised media.

Gerhard's recent experience includes:

  • Logistics company with respect to the customised project development of numerous logistics and office properties in various settings: constructing new buildings, altering existing buildings, leasing customised facilities or acquiring and developing of projects.
  • Sale of several fast food restaurants as a share deal.
  • Portfolio leasing and modernisation of eight nursing homes.
  • Advice with respect to the tailor-made erection and leasing of a high-rise building, including advice regarding the electric infrastructure and smart building solutions (deal volume: EUR 500 million).
  • Insurance company with respect to the restructuring of the property management for a portfolio with a value of EUR 7 billion. The subject-matter of the advice are properties of the asset classes office, residential, health care, logistics, shopping centers, retail and hotel.
  • US tech and industrial companies with respect to the erection and leasing of headquarters and relocations.
  • Insurance companies with respect to the erection, leasing and sale of a large number of offices and mixed-use properties.
  • Insurance companies with respect to the re-development of a large number of existing buildings.
  • Alteration of an existing building from single- to multi-tenant, leasing and sale (deal volume: EUR 250 million).
  • Advice to a large number of clients with respect to dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.
  • Mercato Metropolitano, a gastronomy concept designed for sustainability, on its market entry in Germany.
