Practice notes

Richard is a Partner, Solicitor Advocate and leads our Commercial Dispute Resolution team from our Cardiff office. Richard primarily focuses on public procurement disputes and risk management related issues where he works collaboratively with the firm’s public procurement group. Richard has worked on procurement challenges involving heavy and light rail, network and infrastructure issues, public infrastructure projects, public utilities (water, gas, electricity and renewable energy), IT and telecommunications, construction, health services and education funding.

Richard and his team also advise on commercial disputes in the transport sector focusing on aviation, rail, sea and the transport of goods by road including supply chain issues, challenges to T&C’s, damages claims, diversified industrials for the aerospace and motor manufacturing industry. More widely he advises on shareholder disputes, injunctive relief, fraud and asset recovery.

A significant feature of Richard’s work load involves Judicial Review claims and public law issues arising from his procurement work and from the education practice within his team which includes issues involving funding disputes, regulatory and disciplinary matters, student welfare and subcontracting disputes.

Richard has worked in-house on a seconded basis for two clients and he regularly provides training for a number of multi national companies on the litigation process, risks and best practice. Outside work Richard is am involved with two charities as a Trustee on the Board of the Makers Guild in Wales and an Honorary Vice President of the Welsh Charitables RFC. I am also a committee member of Canton RFC
