Mikhail is a partner in our corporate, M&A and commercial practice in St. Petersburg. He takes pride in always being a reliable and available interlocutor for our clients.

Mikhail is a highly qualified and experienced lawyer who has advised and supported many complex cross-border transactions during his 20 years of practice. Besides advising clients on M&A and real estate transactions, Mikhail has extensive experience supporting clients with complex commercial issues, including labor disputes and corporate matters such as antitrust and trade compliance.

Mikhail has considerable experience within Russian contract and corporate law, and is an astute litigator in state courts and state commercial courts. As a specialist in negotiations, Mikhail frequently assists clients in settling disputes with partners and in other areas of conflict resolution. Mikhail has also been a legal advisor for various projects and transactions connected with investments into industry and manufacturing.

Several recent major M&A projects in St. Petersburg, Moscow and other regions have been accomplished under Mikhail’s supervision. Mikhail has also overseen of real estate projects from start to finish, from obtaining primary construction licenses and permits to registering the property titles and further commercial use of the finished buildings.

Mikhail holds a PhD in Law from St. Petersburg State University. He has been recommended for corporate, commercial and M&A in Legal 500 in 2016-2019. Mikhail also was personally mentioned as a leading lawyer advising heavy industry companies and retail, trading, and FMCG companies in the Kommersant legal rating 2019.

For several years, Mikhail Timonov has been the co-head of the Legal and Investment Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Saint Petersburg, which has become an important platform for professional meetings and networking in the region.

  • assisted UK private equity fund in selling its timber business in Russia
  • advised public United States-based corporate & finance services company in its contract relations with Russian state-owned bank
  • assisted CB&I, a leading provider of technology and infrastructure for the energy industry with carrying out the Russian segment of an international acquisition for USD 6bn
  • assisted Rolls-Royce with the Russian segment of the sale of its Marine Business by Kongsberg Gruppen ASA for GBP 500m
  • assisted a global leader in smart technologies and complete lifecycle solutions for the marine and energy markets with carrying out the Russian segment of the acquisition of a market leader within marine navigation solutions for EUR 210m
  • assisted Cherkizovo Group with several major transactions for large agricultural companies in different Russian regions (incl. NAPKO, Altaisky Broiler, Samson, etc.)
  • assisted Atkore International Group with carrying out the Russian segment of the international acquisition of Vergokan International
  • assisted ITW with an intragroup reorganization of the company
  • assisted Tenneco with the complex acquisition of Federal-Mogul and reorganization of its operations in Russia
