Practice notes

Olaf is an IP/IT & Privacy partner and studied at Leiden University both Biology as well as Civil Law and graduated (civil law) in 1995. Olaf is a passionate, creative and very pragmatic lawyer that has specialized in both classical Intellectual Property law as well as IT/Privacy law. Having studied Biology gives him further insight in technology.

Olaf advises on all aspects of often technology driven IP, IT and Privacy related challenges. Ranging from Health Care institutions and Pharmaceutical companies to licensing and digital marketing activities of FMCG companies.

In addition to being an active member in a range of professional association, he often serves as a (guest) speaker or teacher both in the Netherlands as well as abroad. Head lecturer Privacy law at the Academie voor de Rechtspraktijk (Law Academy) and a founding board member of the Dutch Association of Privacy attorneys, recognised as such by the Dutch Bar. In 2018 Olaf was furthermore appointed as the representative of The Confederation of Netherlands Industry (“VNO-NCW”) in the Arbitration Counsel for Copyrights. Olaf has initiated a number of pioneering court rulings both in IP as well as Privacy law.
